No, not Italy, but Nether Wallop, here in Hampshire. here is what is left of the Saxon wall paintings, the oldest in England. Christ in a Mandorla was at the centre, but this has disappeared with the rebuilding of the chancel arch. These images were painted at the same time as the Winchester school were producing illuminated manuscripts, and they are very reminiscent of them.
