| I have chosen three cycles of paintings to illustrate the legend of Saint Ursula. The Carpaccio cycle is in the Accademia, in Venice: both of the other cycles are in Bruges. The Memling shrine in the Hans Memling museum, Once the hospital of St John, for which institution the reliquary was created. The anonymous St Ursula legend of Bruges is in the Groeninge Museum. |
